Product Guide

Choosing the Right Product for Customization

The best decoration method depends on both the artwork and the product. Fabric content, thickness, seams, coatings, stretch, and heat sensitivity can all affect the finished result.

This guide provides a general starting point. Every product should be reviewed before production.

Caps and Hats

Common Options

  • Structured caps

  • Unstructured caps

  • Trucker caps

  • Snapback caps

  • Dad caps

  • Performance caps

  • Rope caps

  • Beanies

  • Visors

Recommended Decoration Methods

  • Direct embroidery

  • Flat embroidery

  • 3D puff embroidery on suitable structured caps

  • Embroidered patches

  • Woven patches

  • Sublimated patches

  • Leather-look patches

  • PVC patches

  • Select heat-applied graphics

Important Considerations

Cap structure, front-panel height, seams, ventilation panels, and closures affect the available decoration area. Puff embroidery generally works best on structured caps with bold, simple artwork.

T-Shirts

Common Materials

  • Cotton

  • Polyester

  • Cotton-polyester blends

  • Performance fabrics

Recommended Decoration Methods

  • DTF transfers

  • Heat-applied graphics

  • Embroidery for small chest or sleeve designs

  • Sublimation on compatible light-colored polyester

Important Considerations

Large embroidered designs may feel heavy on lightweight shirts. Full-color artwork and gradients are often better suited to DTF or sublimation.

Polo Shirts

Common Materials

  • Cotton piqué

  • Polyester

  • Performance knits

  • Cotton-polyester blends

Recommended Decoration Methods

  • Embroidery

  • DTF or heat-applied graphics when appropriate

  • Sublimation on compatible polyester styles

Important Considerations

Left-chest embroidery is a popular choice for business apparel, uniforms, schools, and organizations. Lightweight or stretchy performance fabric may require special stabilization.

Sweatshirts and Hoodies

Common Options

  • Crewneck sweatshirts

  • Pullover hoodies

  • Full-zip hoodies

  • Quarter-zips

Recommended Decoration Methods

  • Embroidery

  • DTF transfers

  • Heat-applied graphics

  • Patches

Important Considerations

Zippers, pockets, seams, and thick fabric can limit placement. Full-front designs may need to be adjusted around hoodie pockets or zippers.

Jackets and Vests

Common Options

  • Fleece jackets

  • Soft-shell jackets

  • Lightweight jackets

  • Work jackets

  • Insulated vests

  • Performance outerwear

Recommended Decoration Methods

  • Embroidery

  • Patches

  • Select heat-applied graphics

Important Considerations

Water-resistant coatings, linings, insulation, and hidden pockets may affect decoration. Some materials should not be exposed to high heat.

Team and Spirit Wear

Common Products

  • Performance shirts

  • Jerseys

  • Warm-up jackets

  • Hoodies

  • Caps

  • Bags

  • Fan apparel

Recommended Decoration Methods

  • Embroidery

  • DTF transfers

  • Heat-applied names and numbers

  • Sublimation on compatible polyester apparel

  • Patches

Important Considerations

Provide names, numbers, sizes, and spelling in a clear final list. Personalized items should be carefully reviewed before production.

Bags and Backpacks

Common Options

  • Tote bags

  • Backpacks

  • Duffel bags

  • Drawstring bags

  • Coolers

  • Travel bags

Recommended Decoration Methods

  • Embroidery

  • Patches

  • DTF or heat-applied graphics on suitable materials

Important Considerations

Pockets, zippers, linings, padding, and restricted machine access may limit placement. Heat-sensitive or coated materials require special review.

Towels and Blankets

Common Options

  • Bath towels

  • Hand towels

  • Golf towels

  • Stadium blankets

  • Fleece blankets

  • Baby blankets

Recommended Decoration Methods

  • Embroidery

  • Select heat-applied graphics on compatible smooth materials

Important Considerations

Thick or plush materials may require additional stabilizer and special embroidery techniques to prevent stitches from sinking into the surface.

Workwear and Uniforms

Common Products

  • Polo shirts

  • Button-down shirts

  • Work shirts

  • Jackets

  • Safety apparel

  • Caps

  • Aprons

Recommended Decoration Methods

  • Embroidery

  • Patches

  • DTF transfers

  • Heat-applied names and identification

Important Considerations

High-visibility, flame-resistant, waterproof, or otherwise specialized garments may have decoration restrictions. The garment’s safety rating and care requirements should always be considered.

Performance Apparel

Common Products

  • Moisture-wicking shirts

  • Athletic polos

  • Running shirts

  • Team jerseys

  • Lightweight quarter-zips

Recommended Decoration Methods

  • Sublimation on compatible polyester products

  • DTF transfers

  • Heat-applied graphics

  • Lightweight embroidery in suitable locations

Important Considerations

Stretch, moisture-management treatments, and heat sensitivity may affect the recommended method. Large or dense embroidery can change how lightweight fabric hangs.
